Lesson #3: Make the Right Friends/Choices!

It is very important to surround yourself with the right group of people while you are at college. You may have multiple different friend groups, some who you can be productive and stay on task around, and others who you just can’t help but goof off with. It is essential to realize that who you surround yourself with can have an impact on your academic life; it’s up to you to choose whether that impact is good or bad.

It is also important to make good, responsible, decisions both in and out of the classroom. You may not think that drinking the night before an exam is a big deal, but when you are too hungover to make it to class the next day you will soon realize the importance of making good choices. Make a healthy balance of choices, just as long as you are able to wake up the next morning with all your work done, prepared and ready to pay attention during class, you’ll be fine.

Another word of wisdom is that comes along with making good decisions is making sure you get enough sleep every night. Whether you are staying up late after procrastinating studying for an exam trying to cram all the information into your sleep deprived mind, or you get sucked into tiktok swiping videos for hours, that will affect your mental awareness the next day when you are trying not to doze off during an exam. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night to maintain good mental health. To sum everything up, be mindful of who you surround yourself with and make responsible decisions both in and out of classes.
