Coachs Advice:

(Taken by Bernie Mulcahy)

Alex Morganti, “Gants,” is the defensive line coach for the football team here at UNE and he gives us a very interesting point of view. Coach Morganti attended UNE as a student and played on the football team for five years until the 2021 season concluded. After he graduated, he became a coach and has been doing that for the last two years. When it comes to his time as a student here, he wishes that he knew how to manage his time better since it was not something they necessarily were taught in high school. With this also comes self advocacy. “Gants” used to be someone who did not speak up much to ask questions, he would just sit back and let other people ask questions and hope his got answered, but over the last couple years he says this has changed drastically for him. For example, if he is teaching something to the defensive linemen and they have a question he cannot answer, he will always ask the head coach for the answer. Coach Gants also used to procrastinate a lot, but he says that with the job he has now, there is no time for him to procrastinate so he has been very proactive as of recent.
