This handbook will serve as a guide for incoming and first year students at the University of New England on what the “college experience” is really like. Many students have anxiety about the transition from high school to college because of all the unknowns, but we hope that these accounts from current students and staff will help give a better understanding as to what an authentic college life looks like here at UNE. This handbook has been created to help combat some of the worries that you’ve had, as well as aspects of college life that you won’t have thought to ask about. By sharing lessons we and other upperclassmen have learned from our time here, we hope to provide answers to any questions you may have about college life whether they be about academics or the social aspects of college. We will also share resources that are not only available, but that we have personally used here on campus that could help your transition to college as well as later in your academic career. Professors, coaches and other staff, as well as the library and SASC are just some examples of resources you can reach out to. This handbook will provide useful insider information on life at UNE so that you will feel ready to take the next step in your academic journey.
